The gang from the mountains doesn’t need much of an excuse to get together for a semi-impromptu party and last weekend was no different. Hosted by the lovely Marilyn Augur the party included her daughter Elizabeth from Indianapolis, the Shriner’s, the Bittner’s and the Price’s. Everyone chipped in with their favorites for a Saturday night outdoor dining extravaganza.
My responsibility was the charcuterie and I went whole hog at Mondo Market and St. Kilian’s with duck liver pate, Toscano jambon, dried filet, duck sausage, a single cream brie (a little deeper taste not as buttery as what we normally get) and more. As we were in a Summer Bounty theme I got cherries, red and green grapes, strawberries and raspberries.
Jim Bittner contributed the lamb chops with a delicious chipotle, mint aioli and a wonderful asparagus soup.
The Shriner’s brought Big Green Egg grill and lightly smoked salmon, relish and a heirloom tomato salad. Suzy nailed the finale with a key lime and praline pie. And Marilyn contributed the libations a wonderful Rose sparkling, a red Duel from Darioush and a Darioush Viognier that almost makes me forget I like red wines the most.
Just another evening of Charcuterie Style shared with friends and family!
