Sometimes an eating event is so wonderful that the story just has to be told. The picture above is from a tiny French Bistro called Le Papillon in Paris on Rue de Mouffetard. We have been staying in and around the Mouffetard area for years and had passed this gem often.
As a huge Anthony Bourdain fan I was watching one of his shows and he featured Paris, Joel Robechon, bistros and one of his favorites (and he ate there one afternoon with Robechon) was Le Papillon. Se we headed over for lunch and I ordered the above: baby squid, black Chinese rice and a broth of squid ink. Very briny and wonderful.
We ordered a varietal of white wine we had never heard of called “Quincy” from the same general area that Sancere’s are produced. Another big, big wow!
